Shillong: Power Minister Metbah Lyngdoh has clarified that there are no random or unplanned power cuts, except in cases that are pre-scheduled.
Speaking to the media, Lyngdoh said that whenever power shutdowns are planned, prior notice is always issued so that the public is informed. However, he acknowledged that unforeseen outages can occur due to factors beyond control, such as technical faults, storms, or heavy rainfall.
He added that temporary disruptions also take place during ongoing infrastructure works under schemes like RDSS, aimed at providing electricity to unserved rural households. In such cases too, advance intimation is given before any shutdown.
