Aizawl, Sept 16: The 12th North East Zone Shooting Championship Rifle & Pistol 2025 concluded successfully in Aizawl, Mizoram, showcasing the talent and resilience of 258 participants from across the region, including the Army and Assam Rifles marksmanship units.
The final medal tally placed Mizoram on top with 67 medals, followed closely by Meghalaya with 61, Assam 36, Nagaland 10, ARMU 8, AMU 5, and Arunachal Pradesh 1, bringing the total to 201 medals.
Meghalaya’s contingent, which included five hearing-impaired shooters, delivered standout performances, earning the right to represent the state at the upcoming All India Deaf Shooting Competition. Competing across Sub-Youth, Youth, Junior, Senior, and Masters categories, the team overcame challenging travel conditions and returned with impressive results.
The closing ceremony was graced by Mizoram CM Lalduhoma, NRAI President Kalikesh N.S. Deo, NRAI Vice President John F. Kharshiing, and other dignitaries. Organisers hailed the event as a testament to the Northeast’s growing prominence in shooting sports at the national level.
