Deputy CM Criticizes Hindu Group for Threatening Road Blockade Over Mawjymbuiñ Cave Access

HEADLINES

Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar, has condemned the Assam-based Hindu organization Kutumba Surakshya Parishad (KSP) for threatening a road blockade if the state government does not open the Mawjymbuiñ Cave in Mawsynram by December 23 for Hindu worshippers.

Dhar firmly stated that the government does not operate under threats from any group and emphasized that no one is allowed to take the law into their own hands. Speaking to the media, he said, “Outsiders have no right to issue threats or impose deadlines on the Meghalaya government. They need to understand the land tenure system of the state.”

The Deputy CM’s comments come in response to the KSP’s continued warnings to obstruct roads leading to Meghalaya if their demand to access the cave is not met.
