Shillong: The National People’s Party (NPP) unveiled its first list of candidates for the upcoming elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).
The announcement was made by NPP Meghalaya State Unit Working President Hamletson Dohling, accompanied by party spokesperson Himalaya M Shangpliang on Friday.
For the KHADC, the NPP has fielded 18 candidates, including nine sitting Members of District Council (MDCs). Notable names include Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pyniaid Sing Syiem and Council Chairman Lamphrang Blah. Other sitting MDCs contesting are:
• Grace Mary Kharpuri (Nongskhen)
• Macdalyne S Mawlong (Umsning)
• Rangkynsai Kharbuki (Umroi)
• Alvin K (Mawsynram)
• Fantin J Lakadong (Laitumkhrah-Malki)
• Batskhem Ryntathiang (Mairang-Nongkhlaw)
• Bah Carnes Sohshang (Mawkyrwat)
Former Rambrai-Jyrngam MLA Kimfa S Marbaniang will contest from Rambrai-Jyrngam, replacing sitting MDC Bajop Pyngrope. Additionally, former MDCs Donevan Kharwanlang (Sohra) and Rona Khymdeit (Nongpoh) have also been given tickets.
In the JHADC, the NPP announced candidates for all 29 constituencies, including 12 sitting MDCs. These include CEM Thombor Shiwat and Council Chairman Shankey Shangpung. Other sitting MDCs contesting are:
