HEADLINES

The Indian Meteorological Department has announced that Cyclone Dana, originating in the Bay of Bengal, is expected to make landfall in Odisha and West Bengal on October 24.

The cyclone will bring heavy rains and stormy conditions to southern parts of the Bay of Bengal, with wind speeds predicted to reach 100-110 km/h as it approaches the coast.

In addition to Odisha and West Bengal, Cyclone Dana is expected to cause widespread rain and thunderstorms across northeastern states, including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, on October 23 and 24.

In response to the cyclone, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Region (North-East) has implemented precautionary measures to safeguard human life and property at sea. The ICG has heightened its safety protocols, preparing for the possibility of Cyclone Dana intensifying along the coasts of West Bengal and Odisha on October 24 and 25.
