The Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSASA) has started meeting with state ministers to push for policies that will ensure job security for SSA teachers. Today, they met with ministers Bah Comingone Ymbon, Bah Shakliar Warjri, and government adviser Bah HM Shangpliang, urging the government to introduce policies that solidify the employment of SSA teachers.
MSSASA President, Bah Aristotle Rymbai, stated that while the association respects other groups’ protests, they are focused on constructive discussions with the government. He highlighted that the Ministry of Education extended the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) scheme for five more years, until March 2026, and MSSASA is advocating for the SSA teachers to be fully integrated into the State Education Department.
Regarding recent communications by another SSA teachers’ group to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Rymbai mentioned that MSSASA had previously written to the PMO and the Education Ministry and was informed that while the central government funds SSA, teacher salaries and hiring are managed by the state government.
