Shillong: BJP MLA AL Hek has confirmed that the party will field a candidate for the upcoming by-election in the Gambegre constituency.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Hek revealed that the party recently held a meeting in Tura, where supporters decided to contest the by-election with confidence.
Hek stated that the BJP will put forward a strong contender, stressing the party’s optimism in fielding a winning candidate.
When asked about the potential candidate, Hek explained that the party will carefully examine and assess all options before selecting the best candidate to meet their electoral goals.
The by-election in Gambegre will be held after the resignation of former MLA Saleng A. Sangma, who vacated the seat after winning the Tura Parliamentary constituency as an MP.
