Manipur Deploys Anti-Drone Systems Amid Rising Drone Attacks in Ethnic Violence

HEADLINES

The Manipur Police have confirmed that the Assam Rifles and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have deployed anti-drone systems in the state to combat rogue drones being used to drop explosives in civilian areas amid ongoing ethnic violence. Assam Rifles has already stationed several systems at fringe areas, while CRPF has provided and tested one anti-drone system, with plans to send more shortly. The state police are also in the process of procuring additional anti-drone equipment.

These measures come in response to recent drone attacks in Manipur, where explosives were dropped, resulting in casualties. Security forces believe militants are using advanced drones with impact explosives. The state will also install anti-drone systems at key locations, including the chief minister’s office, the Raj Bhavan, and the Manipur assembly.

A special committee has been formed to investigate the use of drones by militants and devise strategies to counter them. This includes senior officials from the Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, and Border Security Force (BSF).
