SHILLONG, June 21: Two employees of the Department of Forest under the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) have to refund the embezzled amount of Rs.37,30,000/- and this amount will be deducted on monthly basis from their salaries.
The Executive Committee of the KHADC took this decision after the officer incharge of the enquiry on this matter concluded the enquiry after finding the involvement of the Chowkidar.
The Chief Executive Member of the KHADC, Titosstarwell Chyne informed that as per the findings of the enquiry, one Chowkidar of a plantation,Franklin Khymdeit is found as having been involved in the embezzlement of the Council funds amounting to Rs.37,30,000/- and this amount he will have to refund by a deduction from his salary at Rs.10,000/- per month until the refund is complete.
The CEM informed that the EC has also resolved to issue an order to the Chief Forest Officer, T.Saiborne to pay Rs.5,00,000/- as fine and the payment method will be Rs.1,00,000/- per month as the fine for neglecting his duties which provided an avenue for the Chowkidar to embezzle the funds.
