Shillong: The BJP state president Ernest Mawrie on Monday informed that the saffron party has decided to strengthen both the parliamentary seat in Shillong and Tura.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Mawrie said with central leadership decision the BJP is set to contest from both seats – Shillong and Tura.
On asked if the party has already chosen the candidates, Mawrie said it is too early but expecting likely in two or three months before the election the party will give the green signal to find the suitable candidate to contest both the Lok Sabha seats.
Mawrie informed that the BJP in the last month has held a meeting in Guwahati wherein all North East states’ president were present and also other states including Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar and Uttarakhand also participated in the meeting as they falls under Zone-III.
Mawrie informed that each state president were given certain directions and the Lok Sabha Prabhas Committee has been formed and they have identified the convener along with the co convener, also in the district level conveners have been identified.
Another meeting will again be held on August 9, which will be chaired by BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra and joint coordinator of the NE state will be present, informed Mawrie.
