Shillong: The family of a 14-year-old girl from Umpling breathed a sigh of relief after receiving news that she had been found safe in the early hours of Monday, a day after she was reported missing.
The teenager had gone missing on the evening of October 12, prompting concern and a search operation by police.
According to the girl’s mother, authorities did not provide any details but instructed the family to go to Ganesh Das Hospital. The family rushed to the hospital and arrived at around 2:20 AM, shortly after being informed at approximately 2:00 AM.
However, the mother expressed that the police have yet to explain the circumstances under which the girl was found or where she had been during the time she was missing. She said officers advised the family to directly approach the authorities if they wanted more information.
Describing her daughter, the mother said the girl is diligent and spiritually inclined, regularly reading religious books and praying.
The mother confirmed that there were no visible signs of injury or assault on her daughter.
Police have not issued an official statement on the case so far.
