Shillong: Tura MP and senior Congress leader Saleng A. Sangma has expressed happiness over the return of former Meghalaya minister Zenith M. Sangma to the Indian National Congress. Speaking to the media after the formal welcome ceremony on Tuesday, Saleng said that Congress remains deeply rooted in Garo Hills, recalling that former Chief Minister P.A. Sangma himself was once a key figure in the party.
He said the Congress continues to attract the “right leaders” who align with the expectations of the people. While extending an open invitation to others who left the party earlier, Saleng cautioned that not everyone returning may have good intentions. “Some might have been misled in the past, but there are also those who could come only to spoil things,” he remarked.
Commenting on the upcoming GHADC election, the MP stated that the decision rests entirely with the voters. “The people will choose freely. No one can force them,” he added.
