Residents of Umsning village in Mawkynrew Block have been enduring a shocking five-month-long power outage, causing frustration and disruption in daily life.
On Monday, village leaders, along with representatives from the FKJGP Mawkynrew Circle, met with the Executive Engineer of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) to address the issue.
Speaking to the media, one village leader expressed disappointment, stating that despite informing their local MLA about the prolonged power outage, they only received unfulfilled promises and had been unable to meet with the MeECL Executive Engineer until now.
However, after today’s meeting with the Executive Engineer, the village leaders were satisfied with the outcome. They were assured that the much-needed transformer would be delivered to Umsning village within the next two days, finally restoring electricity to the area.
FKJGP Mawkynrew Circle President, Bah S. Mynsong, confirmed that previous attempts to resolve the issue had been fruitless, with the MLA’s promises going unmet. He expressed relief after today’s meeting, noting that the Executive Engineer’s promise to deliver the transformer within a day or two offered hope for the villagers, who have been living in darkness for months.
