The United Democratic Party (UDP) is set to announce its list of candidates for the upcoming elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).
Speaking to the media, UDP MLA from Khliehriat, Kyrmen Shylla, stated that the party has been holding deliberations to finalize the candidates for various constituencies. He confirmed that several individuals have already sought party tickets, and the final decision on their candidacy will be announced soon.
Despite setbacks in the recent MP elections, Shylla expressed confidence that the public’s trust in the UDP remains strong, as evidenced by the party’s success in the previous MDC elections. He added that the UDP is hopeful of replicating its performance and gaining further support in the upcoming polls.
Shylla also thanked voters for electing 12 UDP MLAs in the last state elections and expressed optimism that the party would secure even more victories in 2028 to continue delivering effective governance and service to the people of Meghalaya.
