United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Dr. Aman Warr has resigned from the party, citing personal reasons following his election as the new Rangbah Shnong of Lachumiere Dorbar.
Dr. Warr, who contested the 2023 MLA elections from the North Shillong constituency on a UDP ticket, formally tendered his resignation on Saturday. His decision comes as he takes on a new leadership role in the traditional administration of his locality.
While he did not specify any political differences, his resignation signals a shift in focus towards community service.
Dr. Warr had been an active member of the UDP and played a key role in the party’s efforts in the last Assembly elections.
