Shillong: Tura MP Saleng A. Sangma on Thursday met Governor C.H. Vijayashankar at Raj Bhavan in Shillong to discuss the prevailing situation in Garo Hills, including concerns over the alleged entry of Rohingyas into the region.
The meeting comes in the wake of recent unrest in Garo Hills, which has disrupted peace and normalcy in the area.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Sangma said he discussed the current situation with the Governor and emphasised the need to restore peace and stability in the region at the earliest.
He also raised the issue of the alleged illegal entry of Rohingya individuals into the state. According to Sangma, the Governor stressed that any action taken in this regard must strictly follow due legal procedures.
At the same time, the MP noted that various organisations, including religious groups, have been actively working to help restore peace and harmony in the region.
