Shillong/Tura: The town of Tura witnessed a massive inter-faith prayer gathering on Wednesday evening following three days of unrest that began on March 9.
The prayer meeting was organised to seek peace and restore normalcy in West Garo Hills after the recent clashes that disrupted the region.
The gathering took place at Araimile, where thousands of people, including men and women, assembled to pray for harmony and peace in the district and across the region.
Participants from different religious communities joined the prayer meet, reflecting a collective appeal for unity and calm following the tense situation that had affected normal life in the area.
Community leaders and residents expressed hope that the prayer gathering would help bring healing, reconciliation and stability after the disturbances that had gripped Tura and surrounding areas over the past few days.
