SHILLONG, October 07: The two candidates of the National People’s Party who will be contesting in the by-election from Mawryngkneng and Mawphlang, Shri Pyniaid S Syiem and Shri Lamphrang Blah respectively, filed their nominations today for the by-election scheduled on the 30th of this month.
The NPP candidates were accompanied by senior party leaders including the National President and Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri. Conrad K.Sangma, the National Vice-President , Shri Prestone Tynsong, President of NPP Meghalaya, Dr.W.R.Kharlukhi amongst others.
While talking to mediapersons, NPP candidate from Mawphlang, Shri.Lamphrang Blah said that if he is elected, he shall work towards development and alleviation of problems faced by the people as well as the society at large.
On being asked about the UDP candidate, he said that the decision of UDP to choose the son of the late MLA as their party candidate will not affect him and the people will wisely choose the person who can best serve the constituency.
NPP candidate from Mawryngkneng, Shri. Pyniaid S. Syiem on the other hand,has expressed his gratitude to the UDP for not fielding a candidate of their own at all but extending instead their support to him in the upcoming by-election from Mawryngkneng.
He further stated that all the supporters are working hard for a victory and the victory will therefore be of the people who are eager to see a change in the constituency and as a leader he will take serious heed of the situation and work tirelessly towards the eradication of criminal activities especially drugs addiction and the lack of jobs for the youth which are the top most objectives that he will work towards achieving.
He further stated that in an election there is always a tough fight and one should not take the fight lightly while also expressing a hope of achieving victory and pointed out that the sympathy wave will not work in the election of a representative.
