SHILLONG, April 23: The State today paid final homage to the former Chief Minister, Shri. J.Dringwell Rymbai, who passed away on the 21st of this month. The final homage to the deceased political leader was held at Madan Heh in Mawlai Phudmuri and religious rites was completed by the Mawlai Phudmuri Presbyterian Church.
At the State Funeral, thousands paid their last respects which includes the people from Jirang constituency from where he was the MLA for 4 terms. Others who attended and spoke at the funeral included the Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya,Prestone Tynsong, the Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly,Metbah Lyngdoh, MLA of Jirang constituency, Sosthenos Sohtun, while the condolence message from the Chief Minister, Conrad K.Sangna was read by the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District, Isawanda Laloo.
At the last homage paid to the former Chief Minister of the State prior to the final burial were also present other dignitaries, including James P.K.Sangma, Lahkmen Rymbui, Hamletson Dohling, Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, Dr.Mukul Sangma, Leader of the Opposition, MLAs,MDCs, the Additional Chief Secretary, D.P. Wahlang, senior officers of the State, family members and the public.
The mortal remains of J.D Rymbai was laid to rest at the Cemetery of the Mawlai Phudmuri Presbyterian Church at Mawroh, Shillong.
During his time as a public representative, J.D Rymbai held important posts in the State. He had been the Chief Minister of Meghalaya from the 15th of June,2006 to March,2007 and was the Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in 1993.
