Shillong: Sohra SDPO Pynhun Syiem on Tuesday intervened at Kyrdemkhla after members of the All Khasi Meghalaya Tourist Taxi Association (AKMTTA) blocked tourist vehicles from outside the state. On reaching the spot, he questioned AKMTTA leaders, including President Regaldinus Dohling, on what authority they had to stop such vehicles.
The exchange led to heated discussions, with AKMTTA defending their action as an attempt to “educate” both drivers and tourists by distributing pamphlets explaining their stand. The SDPO reminded them that only law enforcement has the mandate to regulate traffic and warned against taking the law into their own hands.
