HEADLINES

SHILLONG, May 02: The General Secretary of Jaiñtia Students’ Union( JSU), Treiborlang R.Suchen said that the union cannot presently accept the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) to be implemented in the State as the students will face a lot of problems due to the lack of proper infrastructure, and a majority of the students from the rural areas are not fully aware or understand the CUET well.

Treiborlang R.Suchen said that at the inauguration of the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Jaiñtia Students Union. He said that the State Government till now has not been able to provide proper examination centres for the MPSC in Jaiñtia Hills, then how can it forcefully accept the CUET. The leader of the JSU also said that the Government of Tamil Nadu has passed a resolution in the Assembly and has sought for the CUET to be revoked in the State because the students are at present facing problems in accepting the CUET.

He also said that if the Central Government forces the implementation of the CUET in the State this year, the students from the State awaiting their Class XII results will not be able to continue with their further studies because there are currently more than 30,000 Class XII students who have appeared for their exams but yet so far only more than 600 students from Meghalaya have registered for the CUET.
