Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Prestone Tynsong, who also oversees the Home Department, urged the public not to panic over drones (UAVs) reportedly flying into the Sohra region from Bangladesh.

Speaking to the media, Tynsong confirmed that the state government has already informed the Government of India about the matter. He clarified that border security remains under the jurisdiction of the BSF (Border Security Force) but emphasized that there is close coordination between the state government and central agencies.

Recently, the sighting of drones crossing over from Bangladesh into areas like Sohra and Shella had caused concern among local residents, raising fears of potential threats to the state and the country.
