SHILLONG, May 23: The National Health Authority(NHA) held a meeting with the representatives of the North-Eastern states to take account on the implementation of the Central Government schemes including the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana(ABPMJAY) and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission(ABDM).
In a meeting with media persons in Shillong, Dr.R.S Sharma, CEO of the National Health Authority (NHA) said that the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is a scheme that provides free medical treatment to about 40% of the citizens of India, and he informed that all the 8 states of the North-east have implemented this scheme very well.
Dr.Sharma praised the presence of the Village Health Councils instated by the State Government to provide emergency assistance during ill health, and he also informed that he has talked to other states to also adopt this mode of operation followed by Meghalaya.
In connection with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, the CEO of NHA said this mode of operation has made it very easy for the people especially in this digital age, where consultation with doctors and procuring medicines can be completed without much trouble.
Dr.Sharma said that the challenge faced in the implementation of these schemes is only in a few remote areas due to a lack of proper connectivity, especially in times of emergency, and he has promised to speak in Delhi with the Telecom department and also the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India(TRAI) to ensure that the people in the remote are connected to the digital mode of operation.
