NEHU Students’ Union demands to call for Academic Council Meeting within 10 days

HEADLINES

The North Eastern Hill University Students’ Union (NEHUSU) has called on the Vice-Chancellor of NEHU, Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, to convene a meeting of the Academic Council (AC) within 10 days to discuss 10 issues recently approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Speaking to the media, NEHUSU President Sandy Sohtun announced that the Students’ union will take further action if the Vice-Chancellor fails to convene the meeting within the stipulated time frame. Despite multiple requests, Prof. Shukla declined to meet the union leaders. After waiting until 3 p.m. without a response, NEHUSU members proceeded to his office directly.

In a formal letter to the Vice-Chancellor, the union demanded the immediate implementation of the Draft Ordinance OC-20, which was approved during the 112th Academic Council meeting in July this year, effective from the academic cohort of 2022-2024 onwards.
