MLP face manpower crunch; govt to fill around 3500 post within this year: Dy CM Tyngsong

Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong in-charge of the Home (police) department on Friday said that the police department’s major challenge is the shortage of manpower not less than 3500 manpower. Speaking to reporters after the review meeting with senior police officials at police headquarters, Tynsong said that they will be completing the whole recruitment process to fill up the various vacant posts in the department within this year. Informing that the recruitment drive for about 1000 plus vacant posts in the different categories of police in the state is currently being held, he informed that the person interviews will be completed within the next two three weeks and then appointment will be issued. According to him, the filling up of these vacant posts will definitely help to boost the morale of the police force to serve the people of the state in a more effective manner especially on the law and order front. He further informed that they are also looking to increase the strength of the police force from the existing 16000 with the sanctioning of new posts. Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister also informed that the police will soon construct the barracks in the newly seven created police outposts along the inter-state border with Assam besides deployment of more police personnel to man these new outposts.
