Opposition MLA of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) Charles Pyngrope has voiced strong opposition to the VIP culture, asserting that it has no place in society.
Addressing public frustration over the issue, Pyngrope remarked that MLAs, MPs and MDCs are elected by the people. Therefore, how can they claim to be VIPs in front of the very people who elected them.
He acknowledged the existence of government rules and regulations for identifying VIPs but cautioned against their misuse.
Pyngrope stressed that these provisions should not lead to harassment of the very citizens they are meant to serve, calling for a balance that upholds public dignity and fairness.
