Shillong: A 16-wheeler truck that had been missing since October 21 has been discovered at the bottom of a deep gorge in Puriang, East Khasi Hills district. Authorities found the vehicle with registration number WB 53C 6150, which was last seen passing through the Diengpasoh toll gate before it vanished.
Police sources said the truck was located without any of the goods it had been carrying, fuelling suspicions that the driver—who had been recently hired—may have sold off the cargo before disappearing. The truck’s owner had earlier filed a missing report and alleged that the driver had absconded with the vehicle.
Investigators believe the truck may have plunged into the gorge shortly after it went missing. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
