Pynursla, East Khasi Hills: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong laid the foundation stone for the upgradation of the Pynursla Community Health Centre (CHC) to a Sub-Divisional Hospital today, alongside the inauguration of the First Referral Unit (FRU) at the CHC.
Speaking at the event, Tynsong emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure, noting that healthcare ranks second in the state’s budget priorities. He urged residents to register for the Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) and link their Aadhaar to access benefits.
Health Minister Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh highlighted the upgraded hospital’s role in providing In-Patient and Out-Patient services, along with 24-hour specialist care in Medicine, Obstetrics, Surgery, and Pediatrics. She also announced plans for a functional blood storage unit to improve emergency services and reduce infant mortality rates.
The government called on local health workers, Village Health Councils, and ASHAs to promote safe childbirth, boost immunization coverage, and ensure children undergo deworming.
