Preparations for the upcoming MDC elections are in full swing, with political parties including – the NPP, UDP, VPP and KHNAM already announcing their candidates for the two Autonomous District Councils, KHADC and JHADC.
However, the Congress party is yet to reveal its list of candidates.
Speaking on Wednesday , Congress leader and MLA-MDC from Mylliem Constituency, Ronnie V. Lyngdoh, stated that the party will announce its candidates before Christmas. He added that the first phase of announcements will cover all constituencies.
Speaking about the selection process, Ronnie explained that the party is carefully considering its options, aiming to finalise two to three potential candidates per constituency before making the official announcements.
When asked about the potential impact of defections from the party, Bah Ronnie downplayed the issue. He asserted that the departure of MLAs and MDCs would not affect the party’s preparations, as there are already two to three strong candidates vying for MDC tickets in most constituencies.
