Shillong: After the State has reported one COVID death in West Garo Hills, Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said that the Government does not have any plans to impose restrictions but it has asked citizens to follow all COVID protocols.
The patient 41 years old of age was a resident of Rajabala, West Garo Hills. The 41 year old, was rushed to Tura Holy Cross Hospital after complications of breathlessness and high fever April 22.
Speaking to reporters, Lyngdoh informed that a meeting was called on the matter in the presence of Chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday to discuss about the vaccination of people in the state.
The Health Minister informed that the department has conducted sample test on the victim body and has confirmed the cause of death is due to Covid-19.
The health Minister however said that people should not panic but to strictly follow covid protocols. She also said that anyone with symptoms should seek medical attention from any nearby hospitals.
Urging people coming from other parts of the country if any symptoms arise should wear a mask for 5-7 days.
She also said that the infrastructures which were created during COVID times are ready to serve people in case the COVID situation deteriorates.
