Dissatisfied with government handling HNLC peace-talks, Vincent Pala criticise govt commitment

Shillong; Member of Parliament (MP) for the Shillong Parliamentary constituency and President of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Vincent Pala, expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of the situation following the withdrawal of the banned militant outfit Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) from the tripartite peace-talks process.

Addressing reporters on Tuesday, Pala asserted that both the central and state governments lacked commitment in meeting the demands presented by the HNLC. He highlighted that, as the Congress stands in opposition, they are not part of the ongoing peace-talk process.

Pala emphasized the need for the government to earnestly address the HNLC’s demands, categorizing them into two conditions – surrender or peace talks, each requiring a distinct approach. He urged the government to avoid making excuses and instead focus on bringing the peace talks to a positive conclusion.

Highlighting the significance of patience, Pala said that the decisions made by the HNLC carry profound implications affecting the state’s economy, the lives of its people, and various other aspects. The MP urged a thoughtful and constructive approach to resolve the situation.
