Shillong: The number of fatalities in the illegal coal mine explosion at Thangsko in East Jaintia Hills has risen to 31, according to the Executive Director of the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).
The increase comes after another injured victim, who had been undergoing treatment, succumbed to injuries. Officials also confirmed that the number of injured persons currently stands at 10.
With the latest update, the total number of casualties from the Thangsko incident has reached 41, including both those who died and those who sustained injuries.
