Conrad briefed Delhi of damages in the State resulting from inclement weather conditions

SHILLONG, June 17: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K.Sangma today the Friday of the week briefed the Central Government in Delhi about the situation in the State in the past few days due to the incessant heavy rainfall and flood.

Sangma met with the Finance Minister of the Government of India, Nirmala Sitharaman and briefed her on the situation in the State and also requested the Minister to grant some assistance as the onslaught of natural forces had resulted in major damages to the crops, the animals reared, the buildings and houses of people.

Sangma further informed that he had fixed an appointment to also meet with the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah for him to also speak with the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on the situation in the State.

On the other hand, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya informed that he had directed the regional committees to be vigilant and alert of the situation in the next coming days, and also urged the citizens to be cautious and alert at such times, and if any place is seen as a possible affected area, they should shift immediately to a safer place which have been set up by the district administration.
