BJP Meghalaya leader AL Hek has expressed confidence that the party will secure victory in the upcoming Gambegre by-election, attributing their potential success to the leadership and vision of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The by-election in Gambegre is scheduled for November 13.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Hek said that while the BJP has not yet officially announced its candidate, several names are under consideration, including MDC Bernard R. Marak. The party is expected to make a decision soon regarding its final candidate.
Hek acknowledged that the party had initially delayed its candidate announcement but remains optimistic that the “Modi mantra” will resonate with the voters of Gambegre- helping the BJP win the seat.
