State Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma has stated that students and scholars who wish to avail benefits provided by the Government of India must possess an Aadhaar card.
- Speaking on Thursday, Rakkam said that those receiving central benefits, such as scholarships are required to have an Aadhaar. He added that the decision is beyond the control of the state government, as it is mandated by the Centre.
However, he clarified that if it were under the jurisdiction of the state, the government would consider alternative provisions for those unwilling to enroll for Aadhaar.
