A coal-laden truck bearing registration number AS 01 AC 8401 overturned on the Mawiong main road near Mecofet on Monday morning.
According to information available, the truck overturned at around 4 am, while it was reportedly descending from Shillong.
The truck’s driver and assistant allegedly concealed the vehicle’s registration number by covering it with a piece of plastic following the accident.
The overturned truck, which came to rest in the middle of the Mawiong main road, disrupted vehicular movement and caused traffic congestion in the area.
The exact circumstances leading to the truck overturning are yet to be ascertained.
