Scientist Dr Jeremy Dkhar Elected Member of India’s Prestigious National Academy of Sciences

Bringing pride to Meghalaya, Dr. Jeremy Dkhar, a native of Mawlai Iewrynghep, has been elected as a Member of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), one of the country’s oldest and most prestigious scientific academies.

Dr. Dkhar is the son of the late Bah David Giri Massar and Kong Kerlinda Dkhar of Mawlai Iewrynghep, Shillong.

He currently serves as Principal Scientist in the Agrotechnology Division at the CSIR–Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT), Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, where he is engaged in cutting-edge research in plant science and agricultural biotechnology.

Academically, Dr. Dkhar completed his Master’s degree in Biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee before earning his PhD in Botany from North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong.

Prior to joining CSIR-IHBT, he also served as a DST INSPIRE Faculty at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, contributing significantly to scientific research and innovation.

His election to the National Academy of Sciences, India, is a recognition of his outstanding contributions to scientific research and marks yet another achievement for Meghalaya on the national stage.
