Senior BJP leader and Meghalaya Cabinet Minister AL Hek on Sunday said it is now the responsibility of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government to ensure that development packages announced by the Centre are effectively implemented and reach the people.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Hek said the Centre had sent a series of Union Ministers to Meghalaya along with development packages covering various sectors.
He said while political parties may claim credit for developmental initiatives, it is widely acknowledged that the schemes originate from the Central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
Hek stressed that the successful implementation of these schemes rests with the respective state departments. He said departments such as Public Works, Health and others have established mechanisms to execute projects and deliver benefits to the public, expressing confidence that they would carry out their responsibilities effectively.
He added that the BJP is keen to ensure every centrally-sponsored scheme reaches the intended beneficiaries and said the focus should remain on development rather than electoral politics.
According to Hek, Meghalaya is witnessing increased attention from the Centre, particularly in sectors such as tourism, sports and healthcare. He also urged the Union government to continue extending support and assistance for the state’s overall development.
He said the BJP would continue pursuing additional Central assistance to accelerate Meghalaya’s growth and ensure sustained development across the state.
