Shillong: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council on Wednesday presented its budget for the financial year 2026–27, projecting a deficit of ₹16.92 lakh on the opening day of the Council’s Budget Session.
Presenting the budget, Executive Member in charge of Finance, Seiborlang Warbah proposed a total expenditure of ₹214,60,09,410 (₹214.60 crore), while the estimated revenue receipts stood at ₹214,43,16,760 (₹214.43 crore).
While introducing the budget, Warbah said the Executive Committee would continue exploring avenues to enhance the Council’s revenue generation, improve administrative efficiency, and maintain strict scrutiny of expenditure to ensure sound financial management.
He urged the House to approve the budget, noting that the three-month Vote on Account will expire on June 30.
