Conrad K. Sangma has said that he has not yet received detailed information regarding the recent incident involving the burning of government vehicles in Shillong.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, the Chief Minister stated that he would seek a comprehensive report from the concerned authorities to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
While refraining from commenting further until all facts are available, Sangma said that the matter would be examined carefully.
At the same time, he sought to reassure the public that, based on the information available so far, the incident does not appear to be of a magnitude that would adversely affect the overall law and order situation in Meghalaya.
The Chief Minister added that isolated incidents can occur from time to time, but maintained that there is no indication at present that the incident poses a serious threat to peace and stability in the state.
Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the fire and submit a detailed report to the government.
