The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on Thursday unveiled its Twenty-Point Charter of Demands during the swearing-in ceremony of its newly elected Central Executive Council (CEC) for the 2026-2029 term.
The announcement was made at the union’s installation programme, where the new leadership formally assumed office under the leadership of President Raymond Kharjana and General Secretary Reuben Najiar.
As part of the initiative, the KSU also submitted a memorandum to Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, urging the state government to take immediate action on the various issues highlighted in the charter.
According to the union, the demands focus on matters affecting the interests, rights and welfare of the indigenous people of Meghalaya, including issues related to constitutional safeguards, employment, education, natural resources, infrastructure and governance.
The KSU leadership stated that the Twenty-Point Charter would serve as the organisation’s roadmap for engagement with the government and policymakers during its 2026-2029 tenure.
The union expressed hope that the state government would seriously consider the demands and initiate measures to address the concerns raised on behalf of the Khasi community and the people of Meghalaya.
