Shillong, April 12: Police conducted a late-night vice raid across key locations in Shillong, leading to the detention of 16 individuals for alleged involvement in activities causing public nuisance.
The operation was carried out around 11:30 PM on April 11 under the supervision of Additional SP Traffic Lovish Garg (IPS) and SDPO Pynursla B. Wanswet (MPS), along with other officers.
Raids were conducted in areas including Police Bazar, Presbyterian Church vicinity, IGP Point, and other public places following repeated complaints from citizens regarding obscene acts, solicitation, and disturbance in public spaces.
During the operation, individuals were found allegedly engaging in solicitation and approaching passersby, causing inconvenience and affecting the surroundings of important public and religious locations.
Police picked up 16 persons during the raidand registered a case under Section 110 of the Meghalaya Police Act.
Further legal proceedings are underway.
