Two youths lost their lives in a road accident near Umran Dairy while returning from the Ri Bhoi Presbyterian Synod Rangbah held at Diwon.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 8 pm when the victims, travelling on a scooty, allegedly attempted to overtake a bus returning from the Synod gathering. During the attempt, they were reportedly struck by the bus.
The deceased have been identified as Eliphast Umbah (24) from Umdohkha, who died at the spot, and Ribansuk Syngkli (29) from Bhoirymbong, who succumbed to his injuries after being taken to Umsning Community Health Centre.
Police from Umsning Police Station have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
