Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma attended a programme for the conferment of appointment letters to 2,968 newly recruited personnel of the Meghalaya Police at the 2nd MLP Battalion Goeragre.
The ceremony marked one of the largest inductions into the state police force, highlighting the growing interest of youth in public service.
Officials stated that the recruitment process saw more than 1.7 lakh applicants competing for the available posts, reflecting the aspirations of young people across the state.
Addressing the new recruits, the Chief Minister congratulated them and urged them to wear the police uniform with pride, discipline and responsibility. He reminded them that the uniform represents fairness, integrity and dedicated service to the people of Meghalaya.
Sangma also emphasised the importance of merit and transparency in the recruitment process, stating that the government remains committed to strengthening the state’s security forces while providing opportunities for the youth.
The induction of nearly three thousand personnel is expected to further boost the operational strength of the Meghalaya Police and enhance law enforcement across the state.
