Shillong, Feb 26: Leaders and members of the Sengbah Ki Nongshat Nongkhein ka Bri Hynniewtrep, led by Mylliem MLA Ronnie V. Lyngdoh, met Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday to discuss matters concerning the organisation.
The meeting proved fruitful as the Chief Minister assured the delegation of financial assistance amounting to ₹41 lakh for the construction of a boundary fence around the religious land and prayer house at Bañiun.
The sanction letter for the financial assistance was received by the organisation’s chief leader Pranshon Jala, in the presence of other office bearers.
Speaking on the occasion, Lyngdoh expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for extending support to the Sengbah Nongshat Nongkhein, stating that fencing the land would help prevent future land disputes.
Meanwhile, Devi Swer, a member of the organisation, said this was the first time the Sengbah had received such support from the government and expressed appreciation for the assistance extended by the Chief Minister.
