Shillong: HSPDP president KP Pangiang has reaffirmed that the party’s stand on uranium mining has never changed right from the time of the late Hoping Stone Lyngdoh to the present day.
Speaking on Thursday, Pangiang said the HSPDP has always opposed any move to allow uranium mining in Meghalaya and continues to firmly maintain the same position today and in the future.
He reminded that the Meghalaya government in 2016 had decided to halt all permissions related to uranium mining in the state and urged the present government to uphold that decision.
