Shillong: City police on Thursday have arrested a youth for invading the stage during American rapper Tyga’s performance at the Cherry Blossom Festival 2025, an incident that sparked brief chaos and almost caused the artiste to fall after a security guard tripped while trying to restrain the intruder.
According to sources, festival organisers have lodged a formal complaint detailing a series of security breaches allegedly committed by the same individual.
They claimed the youth had broken into the Cherry Blossom Festival 2024 by slipping through a weak point in the perimeter fence. He was also accused of having entered the Ed Sheeran concert by posing as a security guard, reportedly wearing a green vest to evade checks.
In the latest incident, organisers alleged that the youth trespassed into the fanpit area of this year’s festival before rushing onto the stage during Tyga’s performance. The intrusion led to a moment of panic when a security guard, in an attempt to stop him, tripped and unintentionally stumbled into the hip-hop superstar.
However, the exact charges against the youth remain unclear, as police have yet to release an official statement on the case or confirm the sections under which he has been booked.
