The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has nominated Nongthymmai MDC, Bah Winston Toni Lyngdoh, as the new Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC). The decision was taken during a meeting held late Tuesday evening at the residence of VPP President Bah Ardent M. Basaiawmoit in Lad Nongkrem, attended by party MDCs.
Bah Winston Toni Lyngdoh, who previously served as an Executive Member in the outgoing EC led by former CEM Bah Shemborlang Rynjah, will now lead the Council. Bah Shemborlang had resigned from the CEM’s post on September 24 citing health issues.
As per procedure, the Council will soon convene a special session to formally elect the new CEM. Alongside this development, VPP also announced that Jaïaw MDC, Bah Denzel Chen, will join the Executive Committee as a new Executive Member.
Party President Bah Ardent said the decision reflects VPP’s commitment to stability and continuity in KHADC’s administration, ensuring smooth governance despite the recent resignation.
