Shillong: The East Khasi Hills Police, through its Special Investigation Team (SIT), on Friday submitted a 790-page chargesheet against five accused persons in connection with the sensational murder of Raja Raghuvanshi earlier this year.
The chargesheet was placed before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Sohra Sub-Division, naming Sonam Raghuvanshi, Raj Singh Kushwaha, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Aakash Singh Rajput, and Aanand Kurmi as the accused.
Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem informed that an additional chargesheet will follow against three more suspects once forensic reports are received.
It may be recalled that Raja Raghuvanshi was brutally murdered in May near a parking lot at Wei Sawdong, allegedly by his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi and her accomplices. Following the crime, police arrested Sonam, Chauhan, Rajput, and Kurmi, and later nabbed Raj Singh Kushwaha, reported to be Sonam’s partner, from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. More arrests were subsequently made from Madhya Pradesh as investigations widened.
The SIT, led by SP City Herbert Kharkongor, took nearly four months to complete the probe before filing the chargesheet.
