Former Mawsynram MLA Himalaya M Shangpliang has responded to criticism over his recent trip to Dubai to watch a cricket match, asserting that he funded the visit entirely from his own pocket.
Shangpliang’s clarification comes after a social media post from by one senior journalists questioned his presence at the Semifinal match alongside Hanletson Dohling.
Addressing the issue, he stated that cricket has been a passion of his since childhood and he continues to enjoy watching major games, including the IPL finals.
“I have always loved cricket and when I traveled to Dubai to watch the semi-final between India and Australia, I spent my own money,” he said.
Expressing his dismay at the controversy, Shangpliang remarked that some people were quick to criticise without knowing the full facts.
